ICMAB and BRAC University Forge Partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and the BRAC University have reached a significant milestone in their commitment to academic excellence and professional advancement in accounting. On Monday, June 10, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed at the Brac University Campus, marking a new era of collaboration and opportunity for students and professionals. The MoU was signed by Prof. Md. Zakaria Masud FCMA, PhD, Director, Academic Affairs Division, ICMAB, and Prof. Mohammad Mujibul Haque, PhD, Associate Dean & Acting Dean, BRAC Business School, in a ceremony witnessed by key representatives from both institutions. Among the attendees from ICMAB were Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, Vice-President, Mr. S. M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Secretary and Mr. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director and Head of Education Department. Syed Mahbubur Rahman, PhD Associate Professor & Research Director, BRAC Business School witnessed the ceremony.

This agreement paves the way for BRACU students and graduates to benefit from course exemptions and admission scholarships when pursuing the CMA program. The collaboration extends beyond these benefits, with ICMAB and BRACU committing to work together in areas that align with their core business interests. During the ceremony, the Associate Dean & Acting Dean of BRAC Business School Prof. Mohammad Mujibul Haque PhD expressed his gratitude towards ICMAB and encouraged faculty members to nurture this partnership through innovative activities. ICMAB Vice President, Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, lauded BRACU for their cooperation and emphasized the partnership’s role in promoting excellence, innovation, and advancement in the accounting profession. The initiative was praised by all participants who agreed to actively work towards fulfilling the objectives set out in the MoU.

ICMAB COURSE WAIVER FOR BRACU BBA GRADUATES

  1. BRACU BBA graduates shall enjoy the waiver facility for pursing CMA program from ICMAB fulfilling the requirements of Table 1. Moreover, students aspire to pursue CMA program simultaneously with BRACU BBA program, shall enjoy waiver of the listed ICMAB subjects (under ‘subject to subject’ waiver of table 1) if they have completed the corresponding subject(s) from BRACU with minimum average GPA of 3.20 in a 4-point scale.

BBA graduates from BRACU shall get waiver from the following six (6) courses of ICMAB fulfilling the required conditions:

1.      Fundamentals of Financial Accounting [FR111]

2.      Business Quantitative Analysis [TA112]

3.      Business Economics & International Business [EF113]

4.      Fundamentals of Management & Business Communication [MS114]

5.      Information & Communication Technology [TA223]

6.      Marketing & Supply Chain Management [MS224]

·        Graduates with minimum CGPA 3.2 in a scale of 4 shall get waiver in three subjects.

·        Graduates with minimum CGPA 3.4 in a scale of 4 shall get waiver in five subjects. TA112, EF113, MS114, TA223, MS224
·        Graduates (major in Accounting or Finance) with minimum CGPA 3.4 in a scale of 4 shall get waiver in six subjects. FR111, TA112, EF113, MS114, TA223, MS224
     
Subject to Subject Waiver  
·        Graduates failed to avail regular or advanced waiver shall be allowed to enjoy exemption benefit securing average GPA of no less than 3.20 (in a scale of 4) in the equivalent subject(s) of the BBA program as stated below.

ICMAB ADMISSION SCHOLARSHIP FOR BRACU GRADUATES

  1. BRACU BBA/MBA graduates shall enjoy the admission scholarship facility for pursing ICMAB courses. The scholarship covers the ICMAB admission cost (i.e., Tk. 28,500) as stated in Table 2.
