ICMAB & IUBAT forge partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Transfer of Uttara Study Centre

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) have reached a significant milestone in their commitment to academic excellence and professional advancement in accounting. On Thursday, October 24, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed at the IUBAT Seminar Room, marking a new era of collaboration and opportunity for students and professionals. The MoU was signed by Mr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman FCMA, Vice President & Chairman of Education Committee, ICMAB and Dr. Mozaffar Alam Chowdhury, Professor and Dean & CBA, IUBAT, in a ceremony witnessed by key representatives from both institutions.

Key figures from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) were present at this event Mr. Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA, Treasurer; Mr. Md. Saifur Rahman FCMA; and Mr. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director and Head of the Education Department.

Representing IUBAT were Prof. Shaikh Sabbir Ahmed Waliullah, Coordinator; Associate Professor Abdullah Al Yousuf Khan; Associate Professor Mr. Swapan Kumar Saha; Assistant Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Hossain FCMA; Ms. Taslima Khatun, Lecturer at the College of Business Administration (CBA); and Mr. AKM Shorfuddin, Director of Alumni, Student, and Placement.

This agreement paves the way for IUBAT students and graduates to benefit from course exemptions and admission scholarships when pursuing the CMA program. The collaboration extends beyond these benefits, with ICMAB and IUBAT committing to work together in areas that align with their core business interests. In addition, IUBAT offers credit waivers in its MBA programs for ICMAB students and members.

This partnership also allows ICMAB to transfer ICMAB Uttara Study Center from Nawab Habibullah School and College to IUBAT campus. It is decided by mutual consent of both parties that all the activities of Uttara Study Center will be conducted at IUBAT from January 2025.

During the ceremony, Dr. Mozaffar Alam Chowdhury, Professor and Dean & CBA expressed his gratitude towards ICMAB and encouraged faculty members to nurture this partnership through innovative activities. ICMAB Vice President, Mr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman FCMA, lauded IUBAT for their cooperation and emphasized the partnership’s role in promoting excellence, innovation, and advancement in the accounting profession. The initiative was praised by all participants who agreed to actively work towards fulfilling the objectives set out in the MoU.
