ICMAB Delegation took part in a seminar “INCOME TAX ACT, 2023” at BCS (Tax) Academy

A delegation of The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) took part in a seminar named “INCOME TAX ACT, 2023” on Tuesday, 20^th February, 2024 at BCS (Tax) Academy, Shantinagar, Dhaka. The chief guest of the seminar was Mr. G M Abul Kalam Kaikobad, Member (Tax Audit, Intelligence & Investigation), National Board of Revenue. Mr. IkhtiarUddin Mohammad Mamun, Director General, BCS (Tax) Academy was the key note speaker of the seminar.

At the outset, the chief guest was welcomed with flowers. Mr. G M Abul Kalam Kaikobad thanked the participants in his welcome speech and assured the participants that some known and unknown facts regarding the new Income Tax Act will be clarified with discussion. Mr. IkhtiarUddin Mohammad Mamun highlighted the new sections added to the Act in terms of categorization of tax payers and sectors of income.

Past President and Council Member of ICMAB Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA mentioned that this Act is a mile stone for Bangladesh as it is a long-cherished desire to modify and enact a law in collaboration with international bodies.  Secretary of ICMAB Mr. S. M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA emphasized the importance of tax payment in terms of social and religious perspective. Vice-President Mr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman FCMA and Treasurer Mr. Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA remained present in the seminar.

Among others, Income Tax Practitioner Mr. Md. Saifur Rahman FCMA, Mr. Jahangir Hossain FCMA, Mr. H. M. Mainuddin Ahammed FCMA, Mr. S. M. Afjal Uddin FCMA, Mr. Faisal Ahmed FCMA, Mr. Md. Mohiman ACMA and Mr. A. K. M Anisuzzaman ACMA shared insights regarding the practical implications of the Act.
