ICMAB commemorates the 31st Charter Day of SAARC

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organized a Seminar on December 08, 2015 at ICMAB Ruhul Quddus Auditorium, Nilkhet, Dhaka to commemorate the 31st Charter Day of SAARC. The theme of the Seminar was Regional Cooperation: Need of the Day for Economic Development.

Member of Parliament, Bangladesh Jatio Sangsad Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh was present on the occasion as Chief Guest. Mr. Md. Shawkat Ali Waresi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh presented the Key Note paper.

The speakers opined that under the changed global socio-political and economic scenario no country in South Asia can grow alone. They underscored the need of both regional and global cooperation; particularly economic cooperation for achieving sustainable development targets and eliminating poverty in the SAARC countries. They also emphasized to reduce border tensions among the SAARC countries and fight collectively against human trafficking, drug trafficking, cross-border terrorism, terrorism financing, illegal businesses and money laundering in one hand and increase business, economic, political and cultural cooperation on the other. They urged to make SAARC, a platform for sharing knowledge and experience and strengthening the bondage and fraternity among the governments, leaders, professionals and peoples of South Asia.

Mr. Abu Sayed Md. Shaykhul Islam FCMA President of the Institute presided over the Seminar. Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA, Chairman, Seminar and Conference Committee delivered the welcome speech while Secretary of ICMAB Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA offered vote of thanks.
