ICMAB and Southeast University Forge Strategic Partnership for Academic Collaboration

Dhaka, April 22, 2025 — The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and Southeast University (SEU) have embarked on a landmark academic partnership, formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering professional development and academic excellence in accounting education.

The MoU signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the SEU campus in Dhaka. Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, President of ICMAB, and Prof. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Ph.D, Vice Chancellor of SEU, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

Distinguished representatives from both organizations were present to witness the occasion. From ICMAB, notable attendees included Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, Vice President; Mr. Mohammed Jahangir Alam FCMA, Council Member; Mr. Md. Shafiqul Islam Talukder FCMA, Director (CAD); Mr. Abu Sayed Nooruddin Ahmed FCMA, Associate Professor & Head of CA & RAD; and Mr. Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director and Head of Education Department.

Representing SEU were Mr. M. Mofazzal Hossain, Ph.D, SM IEEE, Pro Vice Chancellor; Maj Gen Md Anwarul Islam, SUP, ndu, psc (Retd), Registrar; Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean, of Southeast Business School, Southeast Business School; Prof. Dr. Tanvir Fittin Abir, Director, MBA Program; Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Director, BBA Program; Mr. Mohammad Nazmuddoza, Director, CPDSP Admission & Promotion; Dr. Md. Arafat Hossain, Assistant Professor; along with other senior faculty members.

Under the terms of the MoU, SEU BBA graduates will be eligible for course exemptions in ICMAB’s CMA program based on specific academic criteria. The agreement also outlines mutual commitments to jointly undertake academic initiatives, collaborative research, and professional development programs, thereby enhancing the educational and professional prospects for students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam expressed his appreciation to ICMAB for its support and encouraged faculty members to actively engage in sustaining and expanding the partnership. In his remarks, Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA praised SEU’s progressive vision and underscored the significance of the collaboration in advancing the accounting profession through innovation and shared values.

The event concluded with a shared commitment from both institutions to work towards the goals outlined in the MoU, reinforcing a joint mission to develop the next generation of high-quality professional accountants in Bangladesh.
