CPD program on “Merger in Bangladesh: Challenges and Learning” held
A Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program on “Merger in Bangladesh: Challenges and Learning” was held at ICMAB on Monday, May 08, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury FCMA, President of the Institute presided over the program. Mr. Arif Khan FCMA, Chairman, Seminar & Conference Committee delivered the welcome speech.
Mr. Shubhashish Bose, Secretary for Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as chief guest. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Robi Axiata Ltd. Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA presented paper as resource person.
Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA said both companies and customers can be benefitted by merger as it reduces companies expenses by which customers get quality products and services at low cost.
In his speech, the chief guest said merger is a new issue in the country and any decision has not yet taken by the government to make the merger issue easier. “But we are working to amend company law-1994 along with some other laws to ensure such laws time-befitting”, he added.
ICMAB President Mr. Jamal Ahmed Chowdhury said that merger is not just combination of two companies rather it is the part of strategic decisions which aims to provide quality cost effective products and services. Secretary ICMAB Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA offered vote of thanks. A good number of members as well as students of the institute participated in the program.
