CBC of ICMAB holds Discussion session on “Beyond 9 to 5: Mapping Avenues for a Sustainable Career”

The Committee on Innovation for Sustainable Career (ISC) of the National Council of ICMAB and the Chattogram Branch Council (CBC) of ICMAB jointly organized a discussion session on “Beyond 9 to 5: Mapping Avenues for a Sustainable Career” on Saturday, 23rd September 2023, at CMA Bhaban Auditorium, CDA R/A Agrabad, Chattogram.

The President of ICMAB, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCA, FCMA, Vice President of ICMAB, attended as a special guest. Mr. Md. Shamsur Rahman, Founder and vice President of Accounting Beez LLC, Wyoming, United States, presented the keynote paper as the Resource Person.

Mr. Mohammed Mozammel Hossain FCMA, Chairman of CBC, led the program and delivered the welcome speech. Professor Dr. Md. Mostafa Kamal FCMA, Chairman of CPD, Training & Workshop Committee, CBC, ICMAB introduced the distinguished guests of the program.

During his presentation, Mr. Md. Shamsur Rahman, Founder and vice President of Accounting Beez LLC, Wyoming, United States, elucidated the path to a successful career as an accounting freelancer. He emphasized the potential for accountants to become entrepreneurs and establish their brands in the digital marketplace. Freelancers should remain updated on industry trends and regulations, continuously acquire new accounting software skills, and actively pursue professional development opportunities. Accounting freelancers can navigate challenges by adapting to their client’s preferences, pursuing necessary training to enhance their expertise, and understanding the digital platforms they operate in. Mr. Rahman also shared personal experiences and engaged with participants by addressing their questions.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, highlighted the session as an introduction to exploring opportunities and comprehending digital platforms to thrive in the market. He encouraged members to become entrepreneurs and leverage the potential of ICMAB’s 1800 members and 30,000 students to significantly contribute to foreign remittances for the country. He stressed the abundance of opportunities for professional accountants and envisioned this sector becoming a substantial contributor to foreign remittances. He concluded by expressing his delight at participating in the program and gratitude to CBC for organizing this gathering.

Professor Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCA, FCMA, Vice President of ICMAB, commended the resource person for his insightful presentation. He briefly discussed the history and significance of freelancing for professional accountants, particularly for young professionals.
The program was expertly moderated by Mr. M. Jahangir Alam FCMA, Council Member and Chairman of the Committee on Innovation for Sustainable Career of ICMAB, and Mr. Wahid Ullah FCMA, Secretary of CBC-ICMAB. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Pradip Paul FCA, FCMA, Vice-Chairman of CBC, ICMAB.

A significant number of Fellow and Associate members of ICMAB based in the Chattogram region along with senior students from the Branch of the Institute attended the program.
