A two-day conference on ‘Finance Leadership in a Changing Business Leadership’ was held in ICMAB.

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has organized a two-day long conference on December 14-15, 2023, at ICMAB Ruhul Quddus Auditorium, Nilkhet, Dhaka under the theme ‘Finance Leadership in a Changing Business Leadership’. Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Secretary, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, GoB has graced the inaugural session as the Chief Guest while Dr. Muhammad Abu Yusuf, Director General (Additional Secretary) Monitoring Cell, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, GoB has joined as special guest. The inaugural session begins with the welcome speech from Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA, Past President, and Chairman, Seminar and Conference Committee, ICMAB which is followed by the speech of Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, President, ICMAB. The institute has organized the conference to upskill its members on various emerging issues impacting the profession. One technical session was held after the inaugural session. At the session, Mr. Ruhul Amin, Chief Strategy Officer, Robi Axiata Limited has presented the paper titled ‘Digital and Data Driven CMA’. The session was chaired by Mr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury FCMA, Director, Accounts & Finance, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Council Member & Past President, ICMAB and moderated by Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud FCMA, ACMA (UK), Director OPA, American International University – Bangladesh. The discussants of the session were Mr. Sanjib Kumar Ghosh FCMA, ACMA(UK), CGMA, Executive Vice President, Robi Axiata Limited, Mr. M Tanvir Siddique, Chief Executive Officer, B-Trac Solutions Ltd., and K Atique -E- Rabbani FCA, Managing Director, The Computers Limited.

The second day of the conference covers three technical sessions.  Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary, Seven Circle (Bangladesh) Limited and Secretary, ICMAB has presented the first technical paper on the day under the title ‘The Changing Role of the Accountants in the Era of Industry 4.00.’ The session was chaired by Mr. Arif Khan FCMA, Vice Chairman, Shanta Asset Management Limited and Council Member & Past President, ICMAB and moderated by Mr. Md Shafiqul Alam FCMA, FCA, Principal & CEO, Shafiqul Alam & Co., Chartered Accountants. The discussants of the session were Dr. Md. Musfiqur Rahman FCMA, Professor, Department of Accounting & Information Systems, University of Dhaka and Mr. Elias Ahmed FCMA, Finance Director, Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Limited. The second technical session on the day covers the topic ‘Business Sustainability for the Development of Smart Bangladesh’ where the theme paper was presented by Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCMA, FCA, Professor, University of Chittagong, Chairman -BHBFC and Vice President, ICMAB. The session was chaired by Dr. Jamaluddin Ahmed FCA, Chairman, Emerging Credit Rating Ltd., and Past President, ICAB and moderated by Mr. Mohammed Jahangir Alam FCMA, Group CEO, Bangla Trac Group and Council Member, ICMAB. Dr. Mohammad Moniruzzaman ACMA, Associate Professor, University of Dhaka acted as a discussant in the session. Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, Founder and Managing Director, BuildCon Consultants Limited and Vice President, ICMAB has presented the paper titled ‘Leadership Transition – Leap from CFO to CEO’ in the last technical session of the day. Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed FCMA, Treasurer, Dhaka University and Past President, ICMAB was the session chair while Mr. Md. Maksudur Rahman FCMA, CEO, EDISON Logistics Business and Council Member, ICMAB was the moderator of the session. The two-day conference was ended by a concluding session where Professor Shibli Ryubayat-Ul-Islam, Chairman (Senior Secretary), Bangladesh Securities and exchange Commission (BSEC) remained present as the Chief Guest. Around 200 members of the institute have actively participated in the conference and made the conference a grand success.
