Partnership with USTC

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) have reached a significant milestone in their commitment to academic excellence and professional advancement in accounting. On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed at the USTC FBA Seminar Room, marking a new era of collaboration and opportunity for students and professionals. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCA, FCMA, President of ICMAB, and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Solaiman, Vice Chancellor of USTC, in a ceremony witnessed by key representatives from both institutions. Among the attendees from ICMAB were Mr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman FCMA, Vice President, ICMAB; Mr. Md. This agreement paves the way for USTC students and graduates to benefit from course exemptions and admission scholarships when pursuing the CMA program. The collaboration extends beyond these benefits, with ICMAB and USTC committing to work together in areas that align with their core business interests. During the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of USTC, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Solaiman, expressed his gratitude towards ICMAB and encouraged faculty members to nurture this partnership through innovative activities. ICMAB President, Prof. Dr. Md. Salim Uddin, lauded USTC for their cooperation and emphasized the partnership’s role in promoting excellence, innovation, and advancement in the accounting profession. The initiative was praised by all participants who agreed to actively work towards fulfilling the objectives set out in the MoU.

ICMAB COURSE WAIVER FOR USTC BBA GRADUATES

USTC BBA graduates shall enjoy the waiver facility for pursing CMA program from ICMAB fulfilling the requirements of Table 1. Moreover, students aspire to pursue CMA program simultaneously with USTC BBA program, shall enjoy waiver of the listed ICMAB subjects (under ‘subject to subject’ waiver of table 1) if they have completed the corresponding subject(s) from USTC with minimum average GPA of 3.20 in a 4-point scale.

ICMAB courses subject to exemption for USTC BBA graduates

BBA graduates from USTC shall get waiver from the following six (6) courses of ICMAB fulfilling the required conditions:

1.      Fundamentals of Financial Accounting [FR111]

2.      Business Quantitative Analysis [TA112]

3.      Business Economics & International Business [EF113]

4.      Fundamentals of Management & Business Communication [MS114]

5.      Information & Communication Technology [TA223]

6.      Marketing & Supply Chain Management [MS224]

Regular Waiver  

·        Graduates with minimum CGPA 3.2 in a scale of 4 shall get waiver in three subjects.

·        Graduates failed to avail regular waiver shall be allowed to enjoy exemption benefit securing average GPA of no less than 3.20 (in a scale of 4) in the equivalent subject(s) of the BBA program as stated below.
