Office Bearers of ICMAB-2023

PRESIDENT

Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA served ICMAB Council in different roles such as council member, treasurer and Secretary during 2013 to 2022. Currently Mr. Khan is serving as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance of the Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh. He is also serving as Director, Bangladesh Data Centre Company Ltd, Member, Board of Governors of Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Member, Board of Governors of SME Foundation and a life member of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.

As an officer of Bangladesh Civil Service (Taxation) Cadre Mr. Khan started his career as an Assistant Commissioner of Taxes and served in different capacities including First Secretary (Tax Policy) of NBR. Mr. Khan joined Ministry of Finance as Deputy Secretary in 2015 and worked as a Joint Secretary in same Ministry. He also served United Nations as an International Adviser and the World Bank as International Consultant during 2004 to 2011 on lien.

Mr. Khan served as a Board Member of the Public Sector Financial Management Committee of CAPA and the Chairman of Committee on NPO and Cooperatives in SAFA. He received academic and professional trainings from many reputed international universities and institutions including University of Ulster, UK; University of London, UK; Western Sydney University of Australia; National Tax College of Japan; Macquarie University of Australia and University of Alabama of USA.

Mr. Khan obtained B.Com (Hons) & M.Com degrees from University of Chittagong and M.A degree on Government Financial Management from University of Ulstar (UK). Mr. Khan is married with Ms. Ayesha Siddiqua and is the proud father of a daughter Audrika Shabnam and a son Razin Ahmed Khan Talha.

VICE-PRESIDENT

Prof. Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCMA is currently working as the Professor of Accounting department of University of Chittagong. He is also working as the Chairman of BHBFC and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd.

Mr. Salim is a fellow member of three professional accounting bodies such as (i) the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh-ICAB (ii) the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh-ICMAB and (iii) The Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy-CIPFA, UK. He was an Independent Director of CSE, was also an Independent Director of Premier Bank Ltd and Director of Rupali Bank Ltd and Rupali Investment Ltd.

VICE-PRESIDENT

Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA is the Founder of BuildCon Consultancies Limited. Mahtab successfully passed both Honors and Masters in Accounting with distinction. During his job with Unilever and Robi Axiata, he attended many courses including Executive Programs from global reputed University. Currently, he is an alumni of Harvard Business School (AMP 190) and IMB Switzerland. He also attended several courses with INSEAD.

Mahtab worked in Large MNCs like Unilever and Axiata across different industries and different countries – Financial, Consumer goods and Telecommunication. Mahtab successfully managed the largest ever merger in Bangladesh in 2016 – Robi Axiata and Airtel (Bharti) and managed the biggest ever Robi IPO in Bangladesh. He was a Board Member of Ncell Axiata – Nepal, was the President of the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) and Vice President of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BMCCI).

Mahtab is a distinct corporate leader with a stellar reputation built over a period of three decades. After almost two decades of successfully working with Unilever, he joined the telecom sector and in time became the CEO of Robi, the first in the history of Bangladesh for a local citizen to take the top job of a multinational telecom company. He has also been enjoying a huge following in the social media. He has regular column with The Daily Star on Digital as well as leadership, strategy & economy.

SECRETARY

Mr. Md. Kausar Alam, FCS, FCCA, FCA (ICAEW), FCMA is an elected Council Member of ICMAB for two consecutive terms. At present he is working as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of Shun Shing Group, Hong Kong (Seven Rings Cement). Previously he worked with British American Tobacco Bangladesh and Rahimafrooz Group in senior finance positions. He is an honorary Finance and Governance Advisor of a research reputed NGO, ARK Foundation, working in the health and social development sector of Bangladesh.

He is one of the founding members of Intellectual Property Association of Bangladesh (IPAB) and current Executive Committee Member and Treasurer of IPAB. A life member of Bangladesh Japan Training Institute (BJTI) & Bangladesh-Japan AOTS-HIDA & BAAS. He is a General Body member and Co-Chair of the IPR committee in FBCCI. He has done his Master’s in Accounting from the department of AIS, University of Dhaka, and MBA from IBA, University of Dhaka.
