The CBC of ICMAB organized a CPD on “Sustainability Reporting: An Enabler of Company Value Creation”

The CBC of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organized a CPD Program on “Sustainability Reporting: An Enabler of Company Value Creation” on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at CMA Bhaban Auditorium, CDA R/A, Agrabad, Chattogram.

The President of ICMAB, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while, The Chairman of the Cost Audit and Professional Consultancy Committee, Past President and Council Member of ICMAB, Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA attended as a special guest and Professor Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCA, FCMA, Vice President of ICMAB attended as the Session Chairman. Dr. Aditi Haldar, Director – GRI South Asia presented the Keynote paper as the Resource Person.

Mr. Mohammed Mozammel Hossain FCMA, the honorable Chairman of the CBC of ICMAB presided over the program and delivered his welcome speech. Professor Dr. Md. Mostafa Kamal FCMA, Chairman of CPD, Training & Workshop Committee, CBC, ICMAB introduced the session chairman of the program.

The Session Chairman stressed that for a better and more sustainable future for the next generation, we should come forward to implement Sustainability Reporting. As a professional Institute, we have to take timely initiatives to inform the business community regarding this.    

The Chief Guest of the program President ICMAB said that every sector has to work proactively to implement the SDGs as the reporting landscape has been dramatically changed in recent years due to revisions in requirements. The reporting requirements have been transformed from traditional mandatory financial reporting to other reporting frameworks like Integrated Reporting, Sustainability Reporting, ESG Reporting, etc. Sustainability issues are increasingly crucial to both policymakers and business leaders. Our professional accountants can play a vital role in this regard.

Dr. Aditi Haldar in her presentation said that GRI is an international organization that aspires to create a common language of Sustainability Reporting. GRI helps businesses and other organizations understand and communicate the sustainability impact.

The program was nicely moderated by Mr. Wahid Ullah FCMA, Secretary of CBC-ICMAB. The vote of thanks was offered by Mr. Nazmul Islam, Treasurer of CBC- ICMAB.

A significant number of Fellow and Associate members of ICMAB based in the Chattogram region along with other senior students from the Chattogram Branch of the Institute attended the program. The program was followed by dinner for the members and guests.
